Suspense e Sorpresa

Four men is sitting at a table playing poker. The scene is rather boring. Suddenly, after 15 minutes, we hear a big bang - it turnes out there was a bomb under the table. This is called surprise as it isn't what we expected would happen.
If we watch the same scene again with the important difference that we have seen the bomb being placed under the table and the timer set to 11 AM, and we can see a watch in the background, the same scene becomes very intense and almost unbearable - we are sitting there hoping the timer will fail, the game is interrupted or the hero leaves the table in time, before the blast. This is called suspense.

Quattro uomini se ne stanno seduti a un tavolo a giocare a poker. La scena è piuttosto noiosa. Improvvisamente, dopo 15 minuti, udiamo una forte esplosione - e viene fuori che c'era una bomba piazzata sotto il tavolo. Questa si chiama sorpresa dal momento che non è esattamente quello ci aspetteremmo succeda.

Se guardiamo di nuovo la stessa scena con la fonadmentale differenza che noi spettatori abbiamo visto la bomba che veniva piazzata sotto il tavolo e il timer che veniva impostato per le 11 AM, e che noi riusciamo a vedere il tavolo ripreso da sotto, la stessa scena diventa improvvisamente molto intensa al limite dell'intollerabile - ce ne stiamo seduti al cinema sperando che il timer si spenga, che il gioco si interrompa o che il protagonista lasci il tavolo in tempo, prima dell'esplosione. Questa è la suspense.
